Oh damn, I've been inactive for quite some days. I have been doing too much things on my laptop to be able to write another string of things on this page. I tried Alpine Linux on my laptop btw, I had done it on my PC before, it is a great OS for a server not a desktop is what I would say really. I tried running Artix on the server the other day. There was not a big deal about it at all other than that umm... the base installation is quite huge. I would argue that I hate the fact that I am using a VPS rather than a decicated home lab setup, which is obviously more secure. Just that the current ISP I have right now, which is not even mine to be honest (shared with others) is a CGNATed one. Their service is shit and I was not the one who picked it. I was to be honest content with this because I was not into networking that much. I came into the world of networking because of the sudden decision that I should self-host. And even more than... Self host public-services. For now, I have XMPP and GIT but... I probably also need to add more services from which there is not email. I would say serving email sounds like pain, I could not get it to work and forced TLS does not seem to work. I kind of... but not yet am to decide whether to call it off or actually serve it. I have done the SMTP part, but I don't want to do it on port 25. If I cannot authenticate... that sucks. Hence the reason why email literally sucks. I love IMs and I will continue to love IMs! But I will consider going on with the email hosting.
Now, onto the main problem. Email is not secured, neither it is encrypted. Unless you use PGP somehow with the recipient... As federated and as simple email really is, encryption is not part of the protocol. Which makes it more reasonable to get the situation where your recipient will not have their own PGP key for emails. If you sent an email to a user on my server or vice versa, a message that is confidential probably something like your CV or your ID. Both myself and my **VPS** provider will be able to see it... meaning a breach of privacy, and leaking of details. I am the one who is maintaining the server, solely, for which any messages that is stored on the server (if not uses POP3), will obviously be seen by me, and there is nothing you can do about it. Nothing other than to not use Email.
I started writing with the intent of keeping it short on the tiny log. It started to look like my hands are just keep on writing so I had to move it here... Also I am going to upload my gamelogs, err... I mean what I talk about games. And with pictures. If I get to move to a homelab and change my ISP, I will upload video series that you can watch just like on youtube. just that, I will only upload 720p HD. I guess just gotta hit on that **sharpness** :-)
